Ocean City MD Orders
Ocean City, Maryland - Ocean City officials have ordered thousands of residents and visitors to evacuate the beachfront community of Maryland and the governor declared a state of emergency in the approach of Hurricane Irene.
Mayor Rick Meehan says Hurricane third phase plan will come into force at midnight. Anyone other than emergency personnel ordered to leave.
Meehan said there are probably about 125,000 to 150,000 people in Ocean City. He said officials had been invited visitors to head home, but now they say the 7000 or if the inhabitants of the city to seek refuge elsewhere.
Meehan is also a ban on the sale of alcohol, and asked that all businesses close their doors at midnight.
No vehicle, except emergency vehicles and those that are approved by the mayor, city manager or emergency services director allowed to enter.
